First entries in for 29th Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta

Entries are open for Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron’s (RMYS) 29th Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) and Victorian competitors are throwing down the gauntlet; many will come fresh from competing in the 2018/19 Port Phillip Women’s Championship in Melbourne, ending on Sunday 28 April – and two have been quick to enter.

WYC Montalto WoW Regatta a hit with competitors

Lucy Townson from Royal Geelong YC, and Westernport Yacht Club local Issy Barden are the 2018 Montalto Women on Water Regatta perpetual trophy winners. Both Lucy and Issy were recognised for their race results, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, passion and determination across the weekend. They were both extremely committed to learning and their lovely attitude over the weekend was noticed by all competitors, volunteers and race officials.

Female sailors shine at 2018 Australian Sailing Awards

Wendy Tuck, who this year became the first female skipper to ever win a round the world yacht race, has scooped the pool at this year’s Australian Sailing Awards. Tuck took out the top honour in winning the Female Sailor of the Year as well as bagging the inaugural Offshore Sailor of the Year award for her efforts in leading Sanya Serenity Coast to victory in the Clipper Round the World Race in July.
