Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron (BYS) is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Sailing Coordinator – Sail Training to join our team and play a key role in delivering one of Victoria’s leading club sailing programs.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for sailing and participant development to help grow our Discover Sailing Centre, support pathways from learn-to-sail through to club racing, and contribute to a vibrant and inclusive sailing community.

About the Role

Reporting to the Sailing Manager, you will coordinate and deliver BYS’s sail training and development programs, working closely with instructors, coaches, volunteers and members.

You’ll play a central role in ensuring participants have a high-quality, engaging experience - from their first time on the water through to ongoing involvement in club sailing.

This role is offered as:

  • Part-time, or
  • Full-time combined with additional coaching responsibilities (for suitably qualified applicants)

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver Discover Sailing Centre programs, including:
    • Tackers, Junior & Youth programs
    • Adult Dinghy & Keelboat Learn to Sail
    • OutThere Sailing and J/70 youth pathways
    • School and group programs
    • Discover Sailing Experiences and Events
  • Manage course administration, including bookings, payments and communications
  • Coordinate and roster instructors and coaches, including workforce planning
  • Support instructor development, training and upskilling pathways
  • Facilitate participant progression into club sailing and membership
  • Assist with sailing program operations, including racing and regattas as required
  • Maintain strong relationships with members, participants, schools and key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of BYS sailing programs

You are a motivated and people-focused individual who thrives in a dynamic, community sporting environment.

Essential:

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work weekends and flexible hours, particularly during peak summer periods
  • A proactive, positive approach with a commitment to participant experience
  • Working With Children Check

Desirable:

  • Sailing background with coaching/instructor qualifications
  • Experience delivering or coordinating sail training programs
  • Experience working with sportsboat or keelboat programs
  • Experience working with volunteers and community sport environments
  • Knowledge of Australian Sailing pathways and Discover Sailing programs
