Child Safe Standards – VIC

After the recent Royal Inquiry there are a number of new standards that must be addressed by Victorian sailing clubs. These standards become the minimum level of compliance required and need to be in place by the 1 January 2017. They are made up of the following:

  • Organisational culture
  • Child Safe Policies
  • Code of conducts
  • Training/Screening of staff and volunteers
  • Processes for responding to issues
  • Strategies for the identification of and reduction of the risk of abuse
  • Strategies for the promotion of participation and empowerment of children

For Victorian clubs, the following links will give you an understanding of the changes required.

Australian Sailing is currently looking into these requirements with the aim of addressing them at a National level, through the creation and dissemination of information sheets and templates designed to support all our member clubs in the implementation of these standards.
