World Sailing Invites bids for several future events

Australian Sailing is encouraging clubs to consider bidding for a range of upcoming World Sailing events, with several significant hosting opportunities now open for future years.

World Sailing has released bid invitations across offshore, match racing, team racing and Olympic qualification events, offering Australian venues the chance to showcase world-class racing, facilities and event delivery on the international stage.

There are currently bidding opportunities for the following forthcoming World Sailing events:

2027-2029 Offshore Double Handed World Championships

World Sailing is inviting Member National Authorities (MNAs), yacht clubs, manufacturers, regions, and cities to bid to host the 2027-2029 Offshore Double Handed World Championships.

With the 2026 Offshore Double Handed World Championship to be held in Marseille, France in September 2026, World Sailing is seeking bids to continue to build on the success to date. 

The event is a key aspect of Navigating Offshore, World Sailing’s plan to support offshore sailing. The Offshore Double Handed World Championship, which uses supplied equipment, offers opportunities to promote accessibility, gender equity, and sustainability.  Bids are due by 1 March 2026.

Match and Team Racing Championships

  • 2027-28 World Sailing Open Team Racing World Championship
  • 2027, 2028 & 2029 Youth and Women’s Match Racing World Championships 

Olympic Qualifying Events

  • 2027-28 Continental Olympic Qualifiers
  • 2028 Last Chance Regatta
