Welcome to our Playground - Sailing features on Today Show

Sailing has featured on Channel Nine's Today show with live crosses from Hunters Hill Sailing Club showcasing the best of sailing.

Host Tim Davies worked his way around Hunters Hill Sailing club, sharing details on how to Discover Sailing at your local sailing club.

Interviews included Hunter Hill Sailing Club President Chris Stannage talking about the benefits of sailing and the Discover Sailing Courses on offer.

Australian Sailing NSW/ACT Regional Manager Emma Humphries talked about SheSails surrounding how more women and girls can become involved in sailing.

Hunters Hill Sailing School Manager Dana Tavener spoke with host Tim about the Tackers program, taking him through the Tackers Boat simulator on land followed by Hunters Hill Tackers participants showcasing some of their sailing skills on water.

Olympian Lucinda Whitty joined the show to share how her sailing journey which took her from learning to sail at Hunter Hill Sailing club as a junior all the way to the London Olympics (where she won silver). It was great national coverage to inspire viewers to get in touch with their local club to explore what Sailing has to offer.

  • Does your club have information ready and available?
  • Ensure your website is up-to-date with the latest information on courses
  • Update your course details on the Discover Sailing Website
  • Have staff and volunteers briefed on how to manage incoming enquiries in order to assist to further promote

Marketing

  • Share the clips across your website and social media
  • Share the information to members and soaicla members via your regular newsletters and eNewsletter
  • Contact your local newspaper to get them to run a similar article, using the clips above as an example of what can be promoted
  • Get your members involved and ask them to help spread the word
  • SailPass can also be promoted as an easy access option for potential participants.
