Expectations and entries are running high as the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV) prepares to host its 50th Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race, with Cam McKenzie and Nigel Jones’ recently purchased J/111, Ginan, marking the occasion by being the 50th entry.

Sandy Bay Sailing Club (SBSC) will host the International Cadet Class and International 29er Class State Championships and hold the annual PJ Super Series Regatta over the weekend 27-28 November 2021

On Saturday evening, the 2021 Australian Sailing State Awards evening was held at Bellerive Yacht Club. The Australian Sailing Awards, for Tasmania, recognise the outstanding contributions and achievements by clubs and individuals in the Tasmanian sailing community. As well as recognising our sports people, the awards acknowledge the huge contribution made by volunteers and media representatives.

In response to our ever-growing list of Tasmanian Sailing Events, we have created an online calendar for Club Officials to use when planning their future calendar of events. Our overall events policy is to increase participation at already existing events and not overcrowd the calendar with new events.

The annual Tasmania Youth Championships typically held at the end of February is moving to new dates. The Tasmania Youth Championships will now include a two-day coaching clinic leading up of the Tas Youth Championships, the dates for the Coaching Clinic are 8 – 9 October 2020 followed by the TAS Youth Championships 10 – 11 October 2020.

Following a big weekend of virtual regattas the line-up for the National Challenge has now been set with the top e-sailors ready to battle it out at the Nationals this Thursday

We are sad to inform you that just over a week ago, on the night of Thursday 23rd April, the Port Esperance Sailing Club in Dover was burnt down. All the club’s sailing dinghies were destroyed. The fire ripped through the back of the building, the roof and the recently re-built veranda. Although the brick part of the building still stands, it unfortunately will have to be demolished as it is now unsafe.

The Leven Yacht Club will do their bit in trying to improve the base of female sailors on the North-West Coast by holding a Try Sailing program for women on February 16 and 23.

Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman, past winners of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and key supporters from across the country have officially launched the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania (RYCT) in Hobart – 80 days from the start of the historic 75th race from Sydney Harbour to Constitution Dock.

The Leven Yacht Clubhouse is on the riverbank roughly a kilometre upstream from the river mouth leading out into Bass Strait.
