Seeking Members for Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group
Australian Sailing (AS) is progressing the development of its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in partnership with Reconciliation Australia, as part of its broader commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. As this important work continues, AS is seeking expressions of interest from passionate and committed individuals to join a dedicated RAP Working Group (RAP WG).
Establishing a RAP represents a meaningful step towards strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, fostering respect for cultures and traditions, and creating greater opportunities for participation and engagement across the sailing community.
“Developing our first Reconciliation Action Plan is a significant milestone for Australian Sailing,” said CEO Malcolm Page. “We are committed to building genuine, respectful partnerships that recognise and celebrate the enduring connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to land and sea.
“Reconciliation requires ongoing listening, learning and action. We welcome individuals who are passionate about inclusion and respect to help guide this journey and shape a more inclusive future for our sport.”
Implementing a RAP aligns with Australian Sailing’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy and its Strategic Plan for 2032. It reinforces a broader commitment to ensuring sailing is a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all Australians.
