Join Division 3 at SAWKR 2025 - River Racing for Trailerables & Small Keelboats
The South Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (SAWKR) is held over three days on the October long weekend. SAWKR is for women skippers and crews only.
Division 3 is run in the protected waters of the Port River and is designed with the interests of trailerable skippers and small keelboats wishing to race in the river. Offering all the best in river racing, the 'flat' water of the Port River is a perfect setting for novice skippers and crews to become involved in regatta sailing and build their experience, whilst still offering challenges for those more experienced. And for those who would prefer to race in the Gulf, you are able to join Division 2.
Wet berths and secure trailer storage are provided at the Port Adelaide Sailing Club for participating boats over the Regatta. An on-water orientation to the Course Area will be provided for skippers on the Friday before SAWKR if required.
SAWKR is hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA), with assistance from its partners the Port Adelaide Sailing Club (PASC) and the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron (RSAYS) and supported by the Port Adelaide Enfield Council.
SAWKR is aimed at women and girls currently participating in sailing and looking to enjoy the company, competition and camaraderie of other sailors. You can enter individually or as a boat crew. As an individual, we will do our best to help you join a team.
The racing and off-water activities are for developing and improving skills and encouraging an Australia-wide network of women sailors. Last year’s Regatta attracted 168 women and 29 boats with competitors ranging from their teens to seventies. We had three trailerables and one small keelboat, and we hope to build that fleet this year.
As well as all the excitement on the water, there will be lots of fun at the off-water activities, including presentations, post-sail BBQs, a regatta dinner and much more.
