Davey's Bay Yacht Club
An outstanding opportunity is available for an accomplished sailing instructor to help develop new and varied activities to promote increased participation in sailing activities at Davey’s Bay Yacht Club.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, fun spirited, professionals to deliver our seasonal sailtraining programs as Lead Sailing Instructor for the 2026-27 season.
DBYC operate from October to March offering extensive sailing programs & training for members and guests for all ages including:
- Our Tackers Program, a non-competitive sailing program held on Sunday Mornings and Friday evenings over the warmer Summer months
- Junior & Youth Race training programs Sunday afternoons
- After-school programs during Term 4 through to Term 1 and whole day programs in November & late January
- Additional coaching days as required throughout the season
Instructors are crucial in delivering the best possible first experience into sailing. They develop the fundamental skills of sailing allowing the participants to successfully progress along the Sailing Pathway.
Availability (not limited to the following):
- Sunday mornings and afternoon
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons
- Saturday mornings and some afternoons
Remuneration:
Competitive rates based on the Sporting Association Award, reflective of your experience and commitment. Position is based on 20 Hours per week but may include more depending on courses and coaching offered. Christmas shut down 2-3 weeks December into January.
Essential Qualifications:
- Over 18 Years Old
- First Aid Certified
- Dinghy Instructor Qualified and Powerboat Handling Certified
- Victorian Boat Licence
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
- Must be available during the season
- Teams Racing Experience
Skills & Experience:
- Maintain the standards of a Discover Sailing Centre
- Deliver Australian Sailing Programs
- Exceptional skills in Communicating with parents, children and other members
- Preparedness to keep paperwork up to date
- Session Planning
- Leadership and Mentoring Experience
- Excellent organisational time management skills
- Have a thorough knowledge of the rules, techniques and tactics of sailing
- Prior instructing experience as a lead at other yacht clubs
- Ability to instruct people of all ages and skill levels
- Boat rigging and repair skills
