Published Fri 24 Oct 2025

Australian Sailing is pleased to announce the sailors who will represent Australia at the 2025 Youth Sailing World Championships (YSWC) in Vilamoura, Portugal from 12-20 December 2025.

The YSWC brings together young sailors from across the globe to compete in 11 events across male, female, and mixed categories. The regatta offers sailors valuable exposure to international competition, the chance to develop skills in a high-level environment, and the honour of representing their country on the world stage.

Selection Process
The 2025 Australian Youth Sailing Team was chosen through a series of selection regattas held across the country, including:
  • (Formula Kite Class) - Zhik YouthSail QLD
  • (International 420 Class) – Zhik YouthSail SA
  • (29er, Nacra 15, IQ Youth, ILCA 6 Classes) - Zhik YouthSail NSW
At the conclusion of these events, and determined by a selection panel in accordance with the selection guidelines, offers were extended by Australian Sailing to the successful sailors. All selected sailors have now formally accepted their places on the team.

The Youth Sailing World Championships provides a unique opportunity for young sailors to experience international competition and learn in a global context. For many, it represents an important stage in their personal and sailing development, helping them build skills, confidence, and resilience in an international environment.

Selection to the Australian team recognises a sailor’s readiness for this level of experience. While the regatta is a prestigious event, the emphasis remains on learning, growth, and representing Australia with pride.

This year’s Australian representatives will be self-funding their attendance and are seeking support to help make their participation possible. Attending the event involves significant costs, including travel, coaching, logistics, and entry fees.

You can support the team by making a tax-deductible donation through the Australian Sports Foundation here, with all contributions going directly toward the team’s attendance. Once you complete the contribution form, you will receive a tax receipt for your upcoming return.

All donations received will be pooled and distributed equally across the team by Australian Sailing, helping to reduce the financial burden on each sailor.
We congratulate all selected athletes and wish them every success as they prepare for Vilamoura in December.
