Australian Sailing supports Pride Month
Australian Sailing is proud to celebrate Pride Month in 2026, reaffirming our commitment to fostering a sport where everyone feels welcome, valued and empowered to participate.
Creating inclusive and accessible sailing experiences remains a key focus of our Sailing 2032 Strategic Plan. Guided by our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, Australian Sailing continues to work alongside clubs, class associations, volunteers and participants across the country to strengthen a culture of belonging throughout the sport.
Since the launch of the DEI Strategy, meaningful progress has been made in embedding inclusive practices across the sailing community. You can read our 2025 Progress Update here.
Our continued partnership with Pride in Sport reflects this commitment and provides valuable opportunities to learn, collaborate and share best practice across the sporting sector. This year we were been awarded Silver Tier status at the 2026 Australian Pride in Sport Awards, recognising the organisation’s ongoing commitment to fostering a more inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ participants across the sailing community.
To mark Pride Month this June, Australian Sailing and the Australian Sailing Team will once again incorporate the colours of the Progress Pride flag into our logos and digital platforms, demonstrating our support for LGBTQ+ communities and celebrating the diversity that strengthens our sport.
Australian Sailing CEO Malcolm Page OAM said the organisation remains focused on creating positive experiences for everyone who engages with sailing.
"At its heart, sailing is about community, connection and opportunity. Pride Month provides an important moment to celebrate diversity, reflect on the progress we have made, and continue working towards a future where everyone feels they belong in our sport."
As we celebrate Pride Month, Australian Sailing remains committed to building a welcoming and inclusive sailing community where people can participate with confidence, contribute authentically and experience a genuine sense of belonging, both on and off the water.
