Australian Sailing is proud to announce it has been awarded Silver Tier status at the 2026 Australian Pride in Sport Awards, recognising the organisation’s ongoing commitment to fostering a more inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ participants across the sailing community.

The Australian Pride in Sport Awards, the leading national celebration of LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport, mark their 10th anniversary this year. Since their inception, the awards have highlighted the efforts of sporting organisations working to drive meaningful cultural change and improve accessibility and participation for all Australians.

Silver Tier recognition reflects Australian Sailing’s continued progress in embedding inclusive practices, policies, and education initiatives throughout the sport. This achievement underscores the organisation’s dedication to ensuring sailing is a safe and supportive space for people of all identities.

Australian Sailing CEO Malcolm Page welcomed the recognition, noting the importance of sustained commitment to inclusion.

“This recognition is an important milestone for Australian Sailing, but it’s also a reminder that our work continues,” Page said.

“We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels they belong, both on and off the water. Achieving Silver Tier status reflects the efforts of our clubs, volunteers, and staff who are helping to build a more inclusive culture across the sport.”

The Pride in Sport program, led by ACON, Australia’s largest LGBTQ+ health organisation, continues to play a vital role in guiding sporting bodies toward best practice inclusion strategies. Australian Sailing remains committed to building on this momentum and further strengthening its approach to diversity and inclusion in the years ahead.
