One Sailing

One Sailing

In 2016 Australian Sailing (AS) and the State and Territory Associations (MYA’s) agreed to embark on a process to improve the national governance structure of sailing for the long term good of the whole of the sport.
Known as “One Sailing”, AS and the MYA’s committed to provide to a legal, governance and management framework that optimises the prospects of the success of sailing in Australia.

This was based on three principles:

1. A strong national governance mechanism;

2. Enabling efficient management of resources; with the removal of duplicated services and the centralisation of common activities

3. Improving consistency, effectiveness and relevance of services provided to stakeholders.

As a result of this, all staff that were previously employed by state associations transferred across to the national body.
Australian Sailing now has responsibility to deliver all services nationally.
