Yachting Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Collings as Victorian High Performance Program (VHPP) Coach.
Glenn has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to the VHPP. Originally a Boat Builder by trade and Secondary School Teacher for the past 15 years, Glenn has been increasing his role as a private and contract coach to Yachting Victoria in recent years. Glenn is highly respected as a talented high performance sailor having won the World Championship in the OK Dinghy Class, top three finishes in World Championships in the Etchell, Taser and Mirror classes and numerous Australian Championships to his name.
The Yachting Australia VHPP identifies and develops emerging and existing high performance sailors and prepares them for elite level competition and ultimately Olympic success. There are currently 15 Victorian sailors in the VHPP across the Laser, Laser Radial, Finn, 470, Tornado and 49er Olympic Classes. Members of the Australian Sailing Team and Australian Sailing Development Squad are also supported by the VHPP. In addition to athletes campaigning for selection to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the VHPP guides and supports athletes working towards future Olympic Games and international events such as the ISAF Youth World Championships.

Yachting Victoria Coaching Manager, Mark Jackson commented, “It is a great outcome for Victorian sailing to have Glenn as VHPP Coach. I have known Glenn for many years and he is a very good sailor and an excellent coach. The VHPP Coach will focus on high performance and sub elite talent identification, development and coaching support. This integrates with our Yachting Victoria programs which are focused at a grass roots level on club and class coaching programs leading into our Victorian Junior, Youth and Sailing Teams. The Yachting Australia VHPP completes the pathway and provides our Victorian sailors support with their aspiration and goals to move to the elite level of competition and performance.”
Glenn will be based with Yachting Victoria and will commence on 10 September 2007.
