To apply to become a Discover Sailing Centre, or to renew your status as a Discover Sailing Centre you will need to complete a Discover Sailing Application and Agreement. The application is an online form and the application link can be provided to prospective or renewing centres by contacting Australian Sailing. This online process will capture payment applicable to accreditation and enable the centre to articulate which programs (Dinghy, Tackers, Keelboat, Powerboat, Windsurfing) they are wanting to deliver. Australian Sailing will process the application within agreed timeframes, and the Centre Principal will be made aware of any associated issues with an application. Successful applications will result in a Centre Principal being sent an Accreditation Certificate, outlining the courses a centre can deliver and a letter confirming their accreditation.
Accreditation as a Discover Sailing Centre is granted once a review has been completed of your centre. You will need to contact your local Australian Sailing Club Services Officer or Regional Manager to organise an initial review, so they can organise a reviewer to visit your centre. After the review is complete, you will be provided the link for the Discover Sailing Centre application and agreement.
All Discover Sailing Centres must adhere to the Australian Sailing Operating Standards and Guidelines. During a review the reviewer will be using the Centre Review Form (in conjunction with the Operating Standards and Guidelines) to check the centre is up to the standard required. As a centre you will be required to complete the shaded areas before the review date.
A review of your centre will be conducted each year to maintain your accreditation as a Discover Sailing Centre. A Regional Manager or Club Services Officer will organise the review with you directly each year. If the centre is given an action plan from the review this must be completed in the time allocated, otherwise accreditation as a Discover Sailing Centre may be revoked.
