Australia Sailing are asking clubs and members to fire up the barbecue and host a BARBECURE to raise funds for Cure Cancer Australia this April.
Cure Cancer Australia invests exclusively in Australia’s brightest early-career researchers across all cancer types and all areas of cancer research. Australian Sailing will be encouraging sailors across the country to host a BARBECURE to assist with raising awareness and funds for Cure Cancer Australia.
“Cure Cancer Australia funds early career cancer researchers and we want to be able to assist at a national, state and local level,” Australian Sailing Chief Executive Officer, Matt Carroll AM said. “What could be more Australian than raising money for a worthy cause while enjoying a barbecue?
“As many sailing Clubs across Australia are winding down from the sailing season, it is an ideal time for clubs to be firing up the barbecue for one last run before it gets packed away for another year. We are encouraging Clubs to register and host a BARBCURE and will be holding events in our offices across the country to support the cause.”
Since January Australian Sailing has been assisting Cure Cancer Australia with raising awareness and now we are asking Clubs to also support the cause. By registering your Club, business or personal BARBECURE event, you will be able to download resources and even have the opportunity for Cure Cancer Australia to attend your event.
Paying tribute to their efforts, Cure Cancer Australia’s CEO, Mrs Floyd Larsen, said, “Our long-standing investment in Australia’s brightest early-career researchers across all cancer types, and all areas of cancer research, has had a profoundly positive impact on people’s lives.”
“As we get closer to finding a cure, we need to do everything we can to support their work. That’s why we’re asking all Australians to make their summer Barbie a BARBECURE and, with the support of their friends, families and workmates, help fund these dedicated, brilliant, early-career researchers in their quest to find a cure. It’s that easy!”
